heise online chief editor and our CTO Marc as speakers at the 5th VDZ Tech Summit

Berlin, Nov 27, 2017, by Nina Jungius

For two days, 170 executives from the media world met with national and international IT experts, managers and developers at the 5th VDZ Tech Summit in Hamburg. Our CTO Marc Göbel was one of the 39 speakers and talked about best practices, experiences, trends and current challenges of the IT world.

A core theme of the congress of the Association of German Magazine Publishers was the extreme influence of intermediaries such as Google, Amazon and Facebook on the content consumption of Internet users. Therefore, editors and media houses have to find new ways to reach their readers. Due to many years of developing innovative technologies, our team has been able to gain a lot of experience in this field, which CTO Marc expressed in his presentation together with Dr. Zota, editor-in-chief of heise online: "We have been dealing with chatbots and voice assistants for quite a while now, and we are constantly noticing how important this topic is. From dialogues with IT-colleagues from different areas, I repeatedly received similar questions and assumptions which I addressed in the presentation at the VDZ Tech Summit. In this way I was able to convey the most important experiences and hints to the listeners and at the same time inspire others with enthusiasm for this topic. It was a great pleasure for me to be able to hold the lecture together with Dr. Zota, who as editor-in-chief of heise online presented additional practical experiences."

This basixally sums up the tenor of the 5th VDZ Tech Summit. Innovations such as chatbots and voice assistants are extremely important editorially and technically in order to experiment with up-to-date content. They describe technological solutions with which high-quality content is efficiently and authentically presented to readers and users on all relevant channels. Content must be personalized and targeted at the individual user, but only in compliance with the Data Protection Act and a possibly more restrictive E-Privacy Ordinance.

When Prof. Dr. Horst Zuse, son of the inventor of the world's first computer Konrad Zuse, gave a concluding excursion to the development of the first computers at the end of the first day of the conference, it once again became clear how essential events such as the 5th VDZ Tech Summit are to inform, philosophize and exchange information about the massive developments in the IT industry as well as personal projects, ideas and challenges.
