pdm Amsterdam Team Trip – Our Resume

Canals and Teamwork

“Two years after our first workshop in Barcelona it was time for us to take another break from the office. Our new destination: Amsterdam. Our team had to face new challenges in several workshops and thus established structures were put into a completely new light.” Christian Baumert, CEO pdm solutios by ProDigitalis Medien GmBH.

The pdm team loves what it does. The best example to proof that is our team trip to Amsterdam. Time has passed too fast and now it’s time to do a little resume.

We hit the road to Amsterdam on 07/07/16 at 8:30. We were all so excited about the upcoming weekend and already looking forward to all the impressions we would gather. But let’s put business before pleasure: Our individual skills were tested from the beginning in different workshops (to be honest, the workshop room itself was a whole new experience and definitely also invigorated our creativity). Our top interests in these workshops were communication training and process-optimization, next to the general development of new ideas for current and future projects. The change of scenery enabled new ways of thinking: We’ve tried different working methods and tested new ways to more efficient co-working in the team. Among others we learned about the “Blueboard Method” presented in Management Y. This method is based on the self-organization and personal responsibility of a firm’s employees. The key component of that working method are the questions “What do we need to be successful, what does that depend on and how can I contribute to it?”. All ideas are collected on blue cards – that’s why it’s called “Blueboard”. Thus also niche ideas have the chance to be considered thoroughly and the decision process is not all “matter of the boss”.

Next to all the workshops our team also explored Netherland’s capital. The highlight of our trip was definitely the two-hours boat tour. Here our priority one was to experience the one-and-only charm of Amsterdam as one . Its effect was immediately visible – we merged together as one team and collected unique experiences, which don’t only contribute to our work life.

On our 6-hours train ride back to berlin (which can easily become 9 hours when the engine spontaneously needs to be changed) we reflected our weekend profoundly. Due to the loaded trip we came to the office very exhausted the next day, but none of us without a smile or a witty comment on the pdm trip.

Now it’s time to transform our theoretical knowledge into practice. The profound coaching has left its marks and stirred up intern and extern issues. Since our first day back in Berlin we’ve changed structures and implemented new objectives. Time will show the extend of what we’ve taken from Amsterdam (next to loads of fun). A for Amsterdam, B for Barcelona and C for ...? We’re already looking forward to the next pdm workshop! ;-)
