Goodbye Berlin – Hello Amsterdam: 5 reasons for a team trip

Berlin, May 20, 2016, by Nina Jungius

Goedendag! (Good Day!) We are already at the final weeks before our trip to Amsterdam in July. Preparations are at peak and the atmosphere in our office is already dominated by anticipation.

But what’s the use of it? Obviously not to be camping in tulip meadows all cheese-eating and marijuana-smoking and dressed in wooden clogs. Let’s not think about prejudices like that! What effects a trip to a foreign country has for your work and why this is especially beneficial for young and creative agencies, we briefly summarized here:

1. New surroundings create new ideas

It is widely known that the best ideas for your work come up when you are actually not at work: right before you fall asleep, while you are taking a shower or during any leisure time activity. Surroundings inspire! And that is exactly what we are aiming at. If not far from everyday life routines – where else can we find creative inspirations for new ideas? If you take a joint “timeout” with your colleagues, there will be potential for more than everyday office communication. The team is confronted with new challenges and established structures are eased. Out of the pdm office is our new motto and we’ll see what all the workshops in Amsterdam will provide for us.

2. Team Traveling = Team Building

Which directly brings us to our next reason for a team travel. Teamwork as such and the capacity for it have always been the key components for successful companies. Making experiences together doesn’t only keep your colleagues busy, it also optimizes the team building and their way of working per se. Joint leisure activities and team-sports bind together and ease the working atmosphere and collegial co-working. Clearly: By common activities you’ll get to know your colleagues in a completely different way. We already learned that in our trip to Barcelona in 2014. But now it’s even better: We really prepare ourselves for the trip in elaborated team meetings where we learn Dutch language and cuisine basics. We as a team consolidate. The anticipation grows with each session and so our optimism also spreads to all of our client and own projects.

3. Create unique content for your social media platform

Where if not abroad is the perfect opportunity to escape your daily routine? On a trip there are plenty visual incentives and if you manage it to use them for more than just typical tourism pictures, then this is a perfect chance for creative and individual content. No matter if live-videos on Facebook, spontaneous snaps and new geo-filters on Snapchat, elaborated pictures and videos for Instagram or Youtube. Such a pdm trip offers uncountable possibilities to pimp the social media account and tweet the latest news. We are already brainstorming what visual effects and it-pieces we can bring along with our trip to create unique content, make you jealous and bring along lasting learnings in the fields of social media! :)

4. Build an employer brand

Creative pictures and unique posts don’t only bring attention on social media platforms but also for the company itself. We know that being part of an authentic company with a feel-good atmosphere is a crucial factor for employees today. As travelling is the new hobby of our generation, a company which supports this dream is especially appealing for existing and new employees.

5. Waar een wil is, is een weg

Besides all this we get to know the little sister of Germany. In preparation we get in touch with culinary specialties and learn the most important words in Dutch. Our English language skills are tested, too. Out of the routine and into a new country and culture! We can’t wait for it. So be prepared, keep your smartphones up and stay tuned via Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat!

So: Daar gaan we! Let’s go and #SayHiAms!
